Manufacturers are increasing their reliance on 3D printing as part of their broader manufacturing strategies. A relatively young 3D printing company STPL3D is taking the challenge head-on. STPL3D has created many phenomenal 3D printed sculptures for its clients across the country. Recently, they have created an IRONMAN statue for its client in Bangalore, India. This life-size statue have been made through additive manufacturing.
This colorful 3D printed sculpture is the result of cooperation between the design team and the 3D printing team. Inspired by aliens, robots, marvel and science-fiction creations, The STPL3D’s design engineer first designed a digital 3D model based on photographs of the marvel character.
The futuristic sculpture measures 6 x 3 x 3 feet and is made up of 11 pieces. The 3D printing team produced individual parts with FDM machines. The pieces were sent to the coloring studio where the artist smoothed and colored the surfaces before putting them together to make the IRONMAN sculpture.
The entire working process took just 20 days. The five printers worked nonstop and finished the last component after 96 hours!
