Admatec and Formatec, leading Dutch companies in ceramic additive manufacturing and injection molding, have successfully relaunched their operations after experiencing bankruptcy in April 2025. Now trading as Admatec Additive Solutions B.V. and Formatec Advanced Products B.V., the firms are once again under the direction of Michiel de Bruijcker, a former director and co-founder of Admatec. This revival ensures the continuation of key staff, manufacturing infrastructure, and existing client relationships.
Formatec, established in 1996, cultivated significant expertise in high-precision Ceramic Injection Molding (CIM). Admatec, founded in 2012, expanded this into industrial 3D printing for ceramics and metals, building a strong global client base, particularly in the United States where its technology supports semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace, and medical sectors.
Both companies were previously part of Nano Dimension, an electronics 3D printing company. However, a decline in local operational focus under Nano Dimension led to strategic misalignments and ultimately, financial distress. The current relaunch is supported by de Bruijcker and two Dutch investors with backgrounds in industrial technology and sustainable manufacturing.
The group’s long-term vision emphasizes value creation, knowledge preservation, and maintaining skilled employment in the region. This transition signifies a return to localized management and a dedicated technical focus after years of remote oversight. Admatec Additive Solutions and Formatec Advanced Products are now operating with their established teams and integrated manufacturing processes.
Both entities boast comprehensive in-house capabilities, encompassing product development, additive manufacturing, CIM, and post-processing. Their integrated structures enable them to consistently deliver precision ceramic components for specialized industrial applications. De Bruijcker stated, “With this new foundation, Admatec Additive Solutions and Formatec Advanced Products are ready for a future in which quality, reliability and technological advantage are of absolute essence.”
In 2022, Nano Dimension acquired Formatec Holdings for $12.9 million, integrating both Admatec and Formatec Technical Ceramics. Jaco Saurwalt, then COO of the merged entity, joined Nano Dimension as head of the Admatec/Formatec division, expressing enthusiasm for the expansion and accelerated growth under the new ownership.
In its “From Chaos to Discipline” initiative for fiscal 2025, Nano Dimension reported a full-year 2024 revenue of $57.8 million, a 2.6% increase from FY 2023, with fourth-quarter revenue reaching $14.6 million, up 0.8% year-over-year. The company narrowed its product focus, reduced annual operating expenses by $20 million, and boosted revenue per employee by 52%. As part of its streamlining efforts, Nano Dimension divested non-core assets, including its Admatec and Formatec divisions, to improve margins. CFO Assaf Zipori described the transformation as a shift “from chaos to discipline.”
