This weeks additive manufacturing industry news features the key moments from AMTECH 2022 which was organised at Hitex Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad on 2-3 December 2022.
AMTECH 2022 was inaugurated by Shri. K.T. Rama Rao, Honorable Minster for IT, Industries, MA & UD at Hitex Exhibition center on 2-3 December 2022 in Hyderabad. Other key dignitaries who were part of the event’s inaugural ceremony were Shri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government of Telangana
Industries & Commerce (I&C) Department; Smt. Rama Devi Lanka, Director Emerging Technologies (OSD), IT, E&C Department, Government of Telangana and Shri APVS Prasad, CE (A) CEMILAC.
Special Announcements at AMTECH 2022
The Inaugural ceremony of AMTECH also saw a few special announcements which will set the foundation for the Additive Manufacturing industry to grow further. CEMILAC entered into an MOU with a prestigious foreign standardization body, ASTM with an objective to Co-develop Qualification framework for CEMILAC, Accelerate the adoption of Additive Manufacturing in Indian Defence Aviation by adopting available ASTM standards to
fast-track certification and qualification process and A joint collaboration for machine qualification, material
qualification, AM process and post processing, and part qualification.
CEMILAC also released the certificate for the first AM Al alloy part (Selector Valve Body) for a Western
Transport Aircraft. This work was undertaken under the leadership of Shri APVS Prasad, CE, CEMILAC, Dr Shirish S. Kale, Director, CEMILAC, Mrs C M Bhuvaneswari, RD, RCMA (F.F)., HAL Lucknow and Wipro 3D
The present Chairman DRDO, Erstwhile Director General (Naval Systems & Materials), DRDO Hqrs. constituted a Committee to formulate the approaches/methods for Additive manufacturing and its certification methodology in order to optimize certification cycle time during indigenization of military materials for aeronautical applications without compromising quality and safety aspects of the platforms. This committee was headed by Dr. Shirish S
Kale, Director (Materials & PI), CEMILAC, Bengaluru. A provisional document by this committee was released at AMTECH 2022
3D Printing Startup Challenge at AMTECH 2022
World 3D Printing Day (3rd December 2022) was celebrated at AMTECH 2022 by hosting the first 3D Printing Startup Challenge in India to build a conducive ecosystem for 3D Printing Startups in the region. The event was organised in collaboration with AM Ventures, ASTM International and NCAM
The selected startups got the opportunity to be part of a pitch event on World 3D Printing Day, and showcase their innovation and two winners of the Pitch Event received a cash prize worth Euro 2000 each sponsored by AM Ventures and ASTM and in-kind valuable business support from NCAM. The winners of the startup challenge were Dr. Ramya Bojedla and Prayasta 3D Inventions Private Limited.

The tradeshow also featured a high quality conference program which complemented the activity on the tradeshow floor with key notes from Dr Venkat Vedula, Executive Director, Raytheon Technologies, Uma Maheshwar D, Chief Consulting Engineer,
Dedicated sessions focussed on AM in defence, end to end solutions, aerospace, heathcare and construction were designed with industry speakers sharing their insights and more.
Other Highlights
There were a series of products launched at AMTech 2022 including Stratasys Origin® One at Ark Additive Booth | Nexa3D XiP at the Lodestart3D booth ; Sinterit LisaX by Sedaxis | Microfactory by Kreator 3D Printer and Solutions.
Dedicated zones on construction and healthcare 3D printing provided focused industrial knowledge and also an opportunity to the visitors to interact with experts and ask questions.
