The companies will work together to develop new standards for the energy industry using cold spray technology to manufacture parts and repair equipment

Titomic, a leading provider of cold spray solutions, has been invited to join DNV’s flagship joint Industry Project (JIP), ProGRAM, focused on the development and standardization of additive manufacturing technologies for the oil and gas industry. This program represents a major opportunity to accelerate the commercialization of Titomic’s cold spray technology within oil and gas, an industry that has been challenged by corrosion, wear, and part failure since its inception.

The program will focus on establishing standardized practices for AM in the energy sector. As part of this collaboration, Titomic will work with DNV to develop new standards for the oil and gas industry, using cold spray technology to manufacture parts and repair equipment. The program will involve streamlining specifications for common and specific part cases and materials – enabling broader adoption of AM in the oil and gas sector.

The initial focus will be on setting qualification standards for manufacturing structural and machine parts in Alloy 625, subsea parts in low-alloy carbon steel, and cold spray repair. By contributing its expertise in cold spray technology, Titomic aims to help the industry transition to more efficient, sustainable production methods – overcoming key barriers to the broader adoption of AM.

DNV is the world’s leading classification society and a recognized advisor for the energy and maritime industries. They deliver world-renowned testing, certification, and technical advisory services to the energy value chain, including renewables, oil and gas, and energy management. As one of the world’s leading certification bodies, it is helping businesses assure the performance of their organizations, products, people, facilities, and supply chains.

DNV’s ProGRAM will elevate the exposure of cold spray technology within the oil and gas industry and solidify Titomic’s position as a leader in providing innovative, efficient repair, coating, and AM solutions for industries facing long-standing challenges. By participating in the program, Titomic is set to accelerate the adoption of cold spray technology, paving the way for more sustainable and effective manufacturing practices across the sector.
