Tethon 3D has announced the development of new ceramic and metal UV curable resin materials developed exclusively for the company’s desktop DLP printer, which is set for a 2019 Q2 launch.
The materials are high-load versions of Tethon’s already-commercial Porcelite, Castalite, Vitrolite and Ferrolite resins, and are said to enable high-density parts with increased strength. Sample parts will be showcased at the upcoming Formnext event in Hall 3.1, Booth B30D, and the company is now accepting reservations of the machine.
Tethon announced its move into the manufacture of 3D printing hardware this summer, citing the limitations in hardware performance as a key barrier for ceramic and metal additive manufacturing. Backed by a grant from the State of Nebraska Department of Economic Development, the printing system will be called the Bison 1000 and has been optimised to produce parts in Tethon DLP resins.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]“Co-development of our 3D printer and resin materials has optimised both aspects of the additive manufacturing process to produce the strongest ceramic objects with the highest density and least amount of shrinkage,” commented Karen Linder, Tethon 3D CEO. “Our current customers have been seeking a desktop printer for ceramics and metals and we believe by offering the Bison printer and companion resins, we will open new markets and expand the use of ceramic and metal additive manufacturing.”
“Our custom resin development services are now using the Bison 1000 printer in an R&D capacity.
