Utah-based Red Wolf Technologies has carved out a niche for itself in the consumer 3D printing market, offering a suite of on-demand systems dedicated to the production of custom smartphone cases and screen protectors. This has enabled the company to stay ahead of changing smartphone trends and anticipate the release of new models without having to waste countless outdated smartphone accessories each time a new smartphone is released. This more sustainable and adaptable business model is currently being demonstrated, as Red Wolf was prepared for the release of the new iPhone 16 series with case models and screen protector templates added to its 3D printing systems ahead of the product’s release on September 20.
Red Wolf’s offering is based on its Primo Print3D and Primo Protect machines. Primo Print3D is a desktop 3D printer capable of printing custom phone cases on-demand in just 30 to 60 minutes. Primo Protect, for its part, is a cutting machine designed to make screen protectors on-demand to fit the specific dimensions of smartphone models. Red Wolf also has a broad database with over 20,000 phone models, so that no matter what phone a customer comes in with, they will leave with a case and protector that fit.
The latest model automatically added to its library is the iPhone 16, released by Apple last month. With new smartphone models released regularly, with unique dimensions and ever-changing camera, button and port locations, the ability to offer an on-demand production service not only enables phone retailers and repair shops to keep up without having to store a vast inventory of cases, it also reduces the amount of waste generated by mass produced cases that quickly fall out of demand. Today, Red Wolf’s solution is in operation all over the world, as the company has a global network with partners in over 60 countries.
Recently, Red Wolf Technology partnered with Motorola Mobility to bring the phone repair industry into the future using 3D printing. Specifically, the partnership gives repair shops the ability to directly 3D print genuine Motorola OEM tools, like jigs and molds, which can accelerate repair times and ensure that repairs are done to the highest standards.
