PSG College of Technology (PSG CT) from Coimbatore and Bengaluru based Metal 3D Printer OEM, Intech Additive Solutions signed an MoU to jointly design and develop hybrid metal additive manufacturing machines.

This follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), Government of India, and PSG CT for setting up an Industry Accelerator at PSG College of Technology for the development of 8 technologies, under MHI’s “Capital Goods scheme – Phase II”.

The projects that Intech and PSG CT will work on are:

  1. To design and develop indigenous hybrid machine for metal additive manufacturing and
  2. To develop new materials for industrial application needs using Laser Powder Bed Fusion technology and parameters optimization with help of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) techniques

“Intech Additive Solutions, a pioneer in Metal Additive Manufacturing in India, has been finalised as our partner to design and develop indigenous hybrid metal additive manufacturing technology. We are convinced Intech’s expertise in New Product Development and Machine Manufacturing will help us in achieving our mutual goals”, quoted Dr. K Prakasan from PSG CT.

Mr. Sridhar Balaram, Founder of Intech Additive Solutions said, “Team Intech is honored to be associated with PSG College of Technology to develop hybrid machine for metal AM and new materials / alloy parameter development for industrial application needs. We thank the Government of India and the PSG CT team for giving us this opportunity to showcase our design , research & development capabilities “

About PSG:

PSG College of Technology is an Anna University affiliated, autonomous, ISO 9001:2015 certified Institution, founded by PSG & Sons’ Charities Trust in 1951.

Based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, the college today has a student strength of 8500+ with 15 engineering and technology departments besides computer applications, management sciences, basic sciences and humanities departments. More than 505 research scholars are pursuing research programmes leading to PhD/MS/MTech degrees. The college regularly signs MoU with research organisations and industries to promote collaboration in technology development, student training and development of state-of-the-art centres.

The programmes of the college are sought after nationally and abroad.

About Intech:

Founded in 2012 by Mr Sridhar Balaram, Intech Additive Solutions Pvt Ltd became the first Indian OEM to develop and supply Metal 3D Printers. Intech Additive Solutions offers a range of Laser Powder Bed Fusion Machines & software for research and commercial production.

In 2017, the company created the world’s first parameter optimization software called “AMOptoMet”. This was followed in 2020, by launch of India’s first Metal 3D Printers – “iFusion 150” along with indigenously developed build processing software – “AM Builder”. The iFusion range of machines was extended to cater to demand from large part manufacturers with the “iFusion 450” machine in 2021.

German-Japanese machine tool company “DMG MORI” has strategically invested in Intech and joined their advisory panel.

Universities currently collaborating with Intech, and using Intech’s equipment are IIT Madras, Yenepoya University and Pandit Deendayal Energy University.

Intech’s clientele also includes INDO MIM, BHEL, HEMRL, MRF Tyres, Daimler Industries , Lucid Implants, Bellatrix Aerospace, CONIFY – Europe.
