Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated Thursday that the government seeks to acquire 5% of the worldwide market share in additive manufacturing or 3D printing, which is expected to bring about USD 2-3 billion to the GDP in the next 2-3 years. The government intends to develop 50 India-specific technologies including material, machine, process, and software as part of the National Strategy on Additive Manufacturing, with the goal of making India a 3D-printed design and manufacturing centre.
“Precision electronics have a great value.” It is expected to add USD 2-3 billion to GDP over the next 2-3 years,” Communications and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated when launching the strategy.
The plan intends to generate 100 new start-ups, 500 additive manufacturing products, and 50 Indian additive manufacturing technology in the areas of material, machine, process, and software.
“In this approach, we have set certain clearly stated targets. “We are aiming for 50 new India-specific technologies, 100 new start-ups, 10 current and new industrial sectors, and one lakh new trained workers,” Vaishnaw stated.
3D printing offers a wide range of applications, including the creation of prosthetic limbs, stents, dental crowns, vehicle and consumer goods parts, and so on.
“We will discover that India has missed the boat on high-precision manufacturing for nearly a decade.” We have arrived at the same point as the rest of the globe. “Additive manufacturing is vital in India’s total tool box,” stated Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology.
He went on to say that the publishing of the plan signals to the rest of the world that India is poised to create and lead in the additive manufacturing domain.
“We will investigate industry’s interest and devise measures to further boost it,” Chandrasekhar added.
