Fabheads’ FibrBot series of 3D printers are essentially miniaturised 3-Axes Automated Fiber Placement machines, with the flexibility of 3D printing attached to it, providing the best additive manufacturing technologies for fiber reinforced-high strength parts.
With complete customisation on fiber-matrix material combinations and also fiber percentages, the machines can cater to a wide range of applications from various industry environments to aerospace to biomedical use-cases.
Launched for commercial operations only in March, 2019, Fabheads has already used their machines to 3D print full-size cycle frames and drones that have clocked several hours in flight among others.
From winning one of JEC’s top Innovator Award to DRDO’s Dare to Dream Innovation Contest, Fabheads technologies have been recognised by several people in the industry. Few other recognitions include 2018 Top Startup of the year in Manufacturing award by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Lotte Startup Competition 2019, etc.
Fabheads’ hybrid technologies aided by their FibrBots are now increasing finding applications in Defence and Aerospace as well. The company aims to completely automate this fabrication sector, where still more than 80% of all carbon-fiber parts are being manufactured by manual processes in India at present.
