Wire additive manufacturing (WAM) 3D printing technology developer AML3D has begun AS9100D:2016 quality systems accreditation for its additively manufactured aerospace parts.

AS9100D:2016 is one of the highest levels of certification available for manufacturing companies that produce components for aviation, space and defence industries. The process for accreditation is expected to be completed in the second half of the 2023 financial year, at a cost of approximately $25,000. The company said once implemented, it would be only the second 3D wire feedstock additive manufacturing company globally to achieve the standard, giving it a significant competitive advantage when bidding for contracts. AML3D has received contracts from the Boeing company to provide demonstration 3D printer aerospace parts utilising its technologies. AML3D Managing Director, Mr Andrew Sales said: “Implementation of AS9100D certification will further demonstrate AML3D’s commitment to delivering the highest quality components into the aviation, space and defence industry.
“This is an important step in our growth strategy for the company as we pursue high value contracts for aerospace. We are excited to further progress into the aerospace industry with our technology, further validated by this certification.”
AML3D said he development of AML3D’s commercial relationship with Boeing was aligned with the company’s multiphase growth strategy to develop additional and geographically diverse markets…to drive value creation over the medium term.
