AddUp specializes in two types of additive manufacturing (AM) technologies: Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) and Directed Energy Deposition (DED). Their machine portfolio includes the FormUp® range of robust and open-architecture PBF machines, as well as the BeAM Modulo and Magic lines of industrial DED machines. The combination of these processes allows AddUp customers the flexibility to choose the technology best suited for their specific application while also offering a unique ability to meet technical challenges, such as manufacturing parts combining these complementary technologies. AddUp’s FormUp 350 PBF machine is modular and scalable to provide high and quality fine featured parts and industry leading productivity all while adhering to the highest level of safety standards. The DED machines are designed for industrial production and are equipped with in-house designed and developed nozzles to optimize around precision and productivity. To provide customers with a true Industry 4.0 solution, AddUp also provides a complete monitoring solution providing quality assurances after each and every build.
“I am really excited about AddUp’s potential in the marketplace,” says Rush LaSelle, CEO of AddUp Inc. “Additive is an important industry as it is the first truly digital manufacturing technology, and it is also an efficient and eco-friendly process. It also solves for many of the supply chain problems we see today by re-shoring and distributing manufacturing closest to consumption. AddUp has more than 210 years of history in industrial manufacturing and production from our corporate parents, Michelin and Fives, uniquely positioning the company to deliver high quality, high reliability and high productivity to our industrial customers.”
The team of AddUp Inc. has been hard at work over the past year building out the 20,000 square foot state-of-the-art digital manufacturing facility in Blue Ash. The AddUp Solution Center is equipped with dedicated AM workspaces including six PBF machines and two DED machines, a metallurgical lab, an applications training facility, and a post-process machining department. The space will be used not only as a demonstration facility for both PBF and DED
technologies, but also as a facility to provide metal AM printing services, POC production, AM consulting services and training for US customers in the aerospace, defense, medical and tooling industries. The facility is certified to ISO 9001, AS 9100, and is ITAR and CMMC compliant.
“The AddUp Solution Center aids customers in their AM journey by bringing in the right tools and certifications to de-risk their engagement. This facility allows us to walk customers through the entire process from design of the part and feasibility testing, to qualification and delivery,” says Austin Kron, Director of Operations and Services at AddUp Inc. “This facility is the gold standard for a shop utilizing PBF and DED technologies. The quality systems we employ are derived from the foundation of the company and is what ensures that every solution we provide adheres to the industry standards for each specific customer.”
AddUp is fortunate to be a part of the revitalization of manufacturing in Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati was chosen as the location for AddUp’s North American subsidiary based on its strong manufacturing heritage, access to a talented workforce, proximity to industrial and government partners in metal 3D printing and enthusiastic support provided by the State of Ohio. Over the past year, AddUp Inc. has created 20 new jobs in Blue Ash and over the next two years the company plans to more than double in size. This is driven by the expansion of the metal AM market along with increased investment in product development and sales channels on the part of AddUp’s investors: ichelin and Fives.
“We invite people to come take a look at not only the technologies and solutions we bring to our customers factories, but to also challenge our team with their unique manufacturing problems,” said LaSelle. “We believe the team at AddUp is uniquely equipped, with our facility here in Cincinnati, to help solve our customer’s most challenging manufacturing problems.”
The AddUp Advantage Center will open its doors on June 22, 2022, from 12pm – 6pm. The Open House event will showcase tours of the AM facility, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, local food and drinks. This event is free and open to the public and local businesses in the community. To learn more, visit: https://addupsolutions.com/2022/06/02/addup-inc-open-house/
