Germany — Starting in 2022, the new cooperation partners Addup and WBA Tooling Academy will introduce new manufacturing processes in the field of additive manufacturing technologies for toolmaking.

Within the framework of a recently announced cooperation, a new, highly productive powder bed system from Addup — the Form Up 350 — will be installed at the WBA Demonstration Tool Shop in Aachen early next year. The machine complements WBA’s existing technology park of traditional manufacturing processes. In the future, interested parties and customers of both companies will be able to gain initial experience of this system during workshops, training sessions and demonstrations. There is also the possibility of building on this machine first prototypes, demonstrators, and small series. The Form Up 350 with four laser sources will be specialised on hard tool steel and applications in mould making and medical tools. WBA will provide its process chain for the mechanical post-processing and thus finish the parts ready for use.
“The future of tool making is not bound to the traditional manufacturing technologies. Additive Manufacturing sees growing demand from tool makers. Especially in Germany, tool makers are looking for solutions to drive innovation and digitalization in their tool shops. At WBA, we strive to represent all capabilities of German toolmaking in our Demonstration Tool Shop. Addup shares our passion for innovation and we look forward to creating new solutions for a sustainable toolmaking industry” says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Boos, Managing Partner of WBA. And Julien Marcilly, Deputy CEO Addup, adds: “We are proud of this partnership with WBA. It is a great opportunity for Addup to introduce its Form Up 350 machine and its know-how in the birthplace of Additive Manufacturing. Thanks to this partnership, companies of the tooling industry will take advantage of this disruptive technology.”
