Lego Goa is a small team of whiz kids in Goa doing wonderful things in robotics. As the name of the team suggests, they started with robotic kits using Lego blocks. They have moved up the value chain and have started designing their own robots. The team is mentored by Saieesh Gandhi from CARES Goa (Coding and Robotics Education in Schools). A few days ago he got in touch with me for some help in prototyping parts for a robot the team is currently designing to participate in First Tech Challenge, the world’s top robotics competition. As part of the competition, the teams have to build a large size robot to solve certain missions.
The recently inaugurated Additive Manufacturing Hub printed parts of the robot on its Figure 4 Standalone 3D printer. Today members of Lego Goa visited the Additive Manufacturing Hub to learn more about 3D printing and explain their project to the honourable minister of Information Technology, Rohan Khaunte, who later presented them with the 3D printed parts of their robot, in the presence of Officer on Special Duty Neville Noronha.
