UAE-India industrial deal identifies AM and other key areas to work together

The UAE and India will cooperate in seven vital areas to achieve sustainable industrial development, besides focusing on facilitating industrial investments, technology transfer and deploying key technologies in industries.

Dubai launches world’s first 3D printing certification system for construction industry

Dubai Municipality has launched the world’s first system for Certification and conformity marks in the field of 3D printing in the construction industry, which will serve as a proactive measure to streamline procedures and improve the quality of concrete mixes used in factories licensed and operating in Dubai.

Kerala’s First 3D Printed Building to be Opened at Thiruvananthapuram

‘Amaze 28’, the first-ever 3D printed building in the state constructed by the Kerala State Nirmithi Bhavan, at the PTP Nagar KESNIK campus will be opened to the public on Tuesday.

ORNL, NASA Collaborate to Create Prototype Lunar Rover Wheel Through Additive Manufacturing

Oak Ridge National Laboratory ( ORNL ) has teamed up with NASA to produce a lunar rover wheel prototype using a 3D printer. The product highlights the potential role of additive manufacturing in the future of space exploration equipment fabrication, ORNL said Friday.

Record-high 3D printing rate reached by acousto-optical scanning

Professor Wei Xiong’s group, from the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, proposes a pioneering high-speed multi-photon polymerization lithography technique with a record-high 3D printing rate of 7.6 × 107 voxel s−1, which is nearly one order of magnitude higher than earlier scanning multiphoton lithography (MPL).

Evonik Introduces Carbon-fiber Reinforced PEEK for 3D-printed Implants

Evonik has introduced a carbon-fiber reinforced PEEK filament for 3D-printed medical implants. The biomaterial can be processed in extrusion-based 3D-printing technologies such as fused filament fabrication (FFF) and fused deposition modeling (FDM).

X-rays reveal microstructural fingerprints of 3D-printed alloy

Cornell researchers took a novel approach to explore the way microstructure emerges in a 3D-printed metal alloy: They bombarded it with X-rays while the material was being printed.

Immensa Invests $6 Million in DIS-RT to Enhance AI-Powered Additive Manufacturing in Energy Supply Chains 

Immensa, an additive manufacturing and digital warehousing company in the MENA region, has announced an investment of over $6 million in DIS-RT (Digital Inventory Solution Real Time), its AI-enabled software, aimed at transforming the energy supply chains of major oil and gas producers in the region.

Azul 3D Closes $15M Series A Funding

Azul 3D, a Chicago, IL-based 3D printing startup, raised $15M in Series A funding. Backers included DuPont (lead), Beta Lab and GS Futures. Azul 3D also added its newest board member G. Walter “Wally” Loewenbaum, the former chairman of 3D Systems Corp and founder of Rocky Point Ventures.

Bugatti Rimac to open R&D facility in Italy with focus on AM

Croatian electric hypercar manufacturer and provider of technology solutions to global automotive manufacturers Rimac Group said its joint venture hypercar company Bugatti Rimac is expanding its operations across Europe with the establishment of a research and development and innovation centre in Italy. The team will work on future luxury hypercars from both the Bugatti and Rimac brands, as well as more mainstream products, with individual units focusing on specialist areas such as electric, hybrid and alternative fuel powertrains; advanced manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing and enhanced use of composites.
