The round-up of last week’s additive manufacturing news includes the submission of an enhanced proposal by 3D systems to combine with Stratasys, the development of a new multi-material 3D printer by NTU Singapour and Panasonic, grants from French support to JBP aerospace, and much more.

3D Systems Submits Enhanced Proposal to Combine with Stratasys

3D Systems  announced that it has submitted an enhanced proposal to the Board of Directors of Stratasys to combine the two companies in a cash and stock transaction that would convert each Stratasys ordinary share into $7.50 in cash and 1.3223 newly issued shares of 3D Systems common stock.

NTU Singapore and Panasonic develop new multi-material 3D printer

Scientists from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Panasonic Factory Solutions Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., and Singapore Centre for 3D Printing have developed a new multi-material printer using multi-wavelength high-power lasers, for quick and easy 3D printing of smart, flexible devices.

Sintavia Receives Strategic Investment from Lockheed Martin Corporation

Sintavia announced that it had received a direct equity investment from Lockheed Martin Corporation. Sintavia’s products include some of the most advanced mechanical systems used in flight applications today, including multi-circuit heat exchangers, complex thermodynamic chassis, and monolithic cooling pumps.

Grants from French Support JPB’s Aerospace Metal 3D Printing Activity

JPB Système, a provider of efficiency-enhancing technology solutions for aerospace and other industries, has secured funding from the French Government as part of the comprehensive ‘France 2030’ investment program.

Xtellar Introduces Industry-First Flexible Bio-Based EVA Pellets for Large-Format 3D Printing

Xtellar, formed by combining Braskem’s 3D materials division and Taulman3D, has introduced an industry-first for large-format 3D printing. Xtellar’s bio-based EVA pellets bring flexibility and sustainability to a variety of pellet-compatible large-format 3D printers.

Sea sponge skeleton sparks innovative engineering designs

Dhruv Bhate is an associate professor of engineering at the Arizona State University and his team of researchers are using design principles exhibited by the exoskeleton of the Venus’ flower basket sea sponge to develop a lattice configuration with novel weaving patterns to achieve structural compliance.
