Additive Manufacturing Solutions has recently acquired the Nikon SLM Solutions SLM 280 2.0 metal 3D printing system through the facilitation of their UK partner Kingsbury. This strategic investment aims to bolster AMS’ capacity for producing advanced materials and novel alloys. The integration of the new equipment, supported by Additure, a division of the Kingsbury group dedicated to accelerating metal AM technologies, is expected to enhance AMS’ production efficiency significantly. This move aligns with AMS’ commitment to developing metal powders for AM from recycled parts, emphasizing a high-value circular economy approach to material development.
Robert Higham, CEO of AMS, expressed excitement about the integration of the SLM 280 2.0 into their operations, foreseeing a revolution in the material and process capabilities within the additive manufacturing industry. Additionally, AMS plans to leverage their Additive Manufacturing Academy to provide hands-on experience and groundbreaking training in additive manufacturing.
Nikon SLM Solutions CCO Charlie Grace praised AMS’ foresight in integrating Dyndrite’s toolpath technology, highlighting its innovative and precise approach to production. He emphasized Nikon SLM Solutions’ commitment to empowering partners like AMS to shape the future of sustainable and efficient manufacturing.
Richard Kingsbury, Managing Director of Kingsbury, highlighted the comprehensive support AMS will receive throughout their metal AM journey, with the combination of Additure’s expertise and Kingsbury’s machine tools service and support. He expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with AMS and anticipated more exciting developments in the future.
The installation of the SLM 280 2.0 will be complemented by the incorporation of Dyndrite’s toolpath control software, providing AMS with enhanced toolpath control and optimization capabilities. This integration is expected to give AMS a competitive edge over traditional toolpathing solutions, thanks to Dyndrite’s speed, flexibility, and precision.
