FIU has received a $3.2 million grant from the Army Corps of Engineers to research the 3D printing of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC). The innovative research looks to help military personnel and industry professionals create extra-strong, customized structures on demand.

Lockheed Martin And Sintavia Team Up To Advance Metal Additive Manufacturing

Lockheed Martin Corporation, (NYSE: LMT), and Sintavia, LLC, announced a collaboration to expand research of metal additive manufacturing (AM) opportunities as an alternative to castings and forgings.

Fortius Metals Raises Seed Round of $2M from AM Ventures to Bring Advanced Metal 3D Printing to the Aerospace Industry

Fortius Metals, Inc., an innovative metal 3D printing company, has announced today that it has closed on a priced seed financing round with AM Ventures. The $2M round will be used to scale manufacturing capacity, grow the company and accelerate its go-to-market strategy.

Desktop Metal Installations of Additive Manufacturing Systems for Metal Parts Now Surpass 1,100 Units Worldwide

Desktop Metal  announced the company has installed more than 1,100 3D printing systems for metal components worldwide.

DMG MORI, Illinois Tech plan advanced manufacturing center

Officials from DMG MORI and Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech) announced their intention to establish a national center for advanced manufacturing, which aims to be one of the nation’s first joint university and industry academies to train, develop, and empower the advanced manufacturing workforces of the future.

NASA, ICON Advance Lunar Construction Technology for Moon Missions 

NASA has awarded ICON, located in Austin, a contract to develop construction technologies that could help build infrastructure such as landing pads, habitats, and roads on the lunar surface.

Mikrocentrum and Brainport Development join forces to bring Additive Manufacturing to a global market

Mikrocentrum and Brainport Development are joining forces in Additive Manufacturing (AM). The cooperation is aimed at developing a “learning community” that contributes to the international positioning and competence development of each other’s target groups.

BICO Acquires Allegro 3D 

BICO has acquired all shares in San Diego based Allegro 3D LLC  for an enterprise value of 11 MUSD, including an earnout component of 5 MUSD contingent on Allegro 3D’s financial performance in the coming two years.
