3DGence, a European company, has announced the release of a new industrial FFF machine that is compatible with high performance materials.

More from the News

The INDUSTRY F421, which joins the company’s previously established range of printers, aims to address the demands of demanding industries such as aerospace, automotive, and medical. In addition to this launch, the business has introduced AS9100, a new high-temperature filament manufactured of PEEK and approved for usage in aerospace and military. As a result, 3DGence promotes the 3D printing of final products with excellent performance using a dependable and repeatable method.

Users of additive manufacturing are increasingly striving for increased productivity through simple-to-implement and automated methods. Furthermore, they are seeking for materials with strong mechanical and chemical qualities that allow for the production of complicated forms at a reasonable cost. The extrusion technique is an appealing option since it is cost-effective while being compatible with a wide range of materials, including high-performance polymers that have superior heat resistance, strength, and lightweight when compared to metals. As a result, an increasing number of market participants, like 3DGence, are creating this sort of solution.

INDUSTRY F421, an FFF Machine with High Performance

3DGence unveiled the INDUSTRY F420 printer, a quick solution for high-performance materials, in November 2019. With the INDUSTRY F421, the company has made several changes in terms of mechanics, components, safety measures, and workflow. The new 3D printer includes a heated chamber, replaceable print modules, and a filtering system to guarantee operator safety, with a print capacity of 380 x 380 x 420 mm and a speed of 400 mm/s. It is compatible with PEEK, ULTEM, and PEKK composite materials.

“With an emphasis on Industry Certified materials like as AS9100 PEEK, ULTEMTM, and advanced materials for medical applications, the necessity for sequential printing of end-use parts drove the newest edition of our INDUSTRY range,” says Mateusz Sidorowicz, 3DGence’s marketing director.

The robust kinematic system has been tuned for high-speed, high-accuracy dual-head printing, a higher constant chamber temperature, a full-composite ready extrusion system with increased durability, and an upgraded, user-friendly workflow on the new tablet-oriented interface.”

A Material Approved for Aerospace

Aside from this machine upgrade, 3DGence is now introducing a new PEEK filament that is approved for aerospace purposes. PEEK is a prominent polymer in demanding sectors due to its high strength, anti-corrosive qualities, and resilience to flame and heat. However, when it comes to printing final products, the certification stage can often be a hurdle to its acceptance in additive manufacturing. 3DGence wants to overcome some boundaries with this PEEK: the filament is recognized by the American AS9100 certification, ensuring production quality and material traceability.

“At 3DGence, we are assisting our clients across sectors in growing the usage of high-temperature and composite materials for end-use applications,” says Ron Faruqui, CEO of 3DGence Americas. They can now rapidly develop and create proof-of-concept end-parts in PEEK with complete confidence in the material’s compliance and certification.” Finally, the company claims that this PEEK can withstand temperatures of up to 260°C.

Increasing Automation and Reliability

3DGence created the Management Material System (MMS) to better store, prepare, and post-process materials, including high performance filaments, with the goal of making the production process predictable, reliable, and automated. When it comes to these several processes, the latter demand extra care because bad handling or preparation might have ramifications on the final part’s performance and be quite costly. This MMS system’s goal is to help with the printing and administration of industrial quality components.
