Protolabs has expanded its HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing capabilities with the introduction of PA 12 Glass Beads Smooth Grey material. This new addition follows the installation of two advanced HP Jet Fusion 5600 series printers at Protolabs’ facility in Putzbrunn, Germany.

The PA 12 Glass Beads material is distinguished by its high heat resistance, dimensional stability, and long-term wear resistance. Protolabs highlights its potential for producing small series of parts and prototypes, broadening the scope of applications across various industries. By incorporating 40% glass beads into the polyamide material, it offers enhanced thermal resistance compared to unfilled polyamides. Although it has a lower impact and tensile strength than other nylons, this property helps prevent deformation at high temperatures, making it ideal for use in environments with significant heat generation, such as engine cooling systems. The material features tolerances of +/- 0.25mm to 0.002 mm/mm.
