BeAM, headquartered in Strasbourg, France, and with facilities in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, and Singapore, has announced the sale of a Modulo 400 Directed Energy Deposition (DED) metal Additive Manufacturing machine to Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. The machine will be installed at the Department of Energy’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at ORNL, which supports early-stage research to advance innovation in U.S. manufacturing and promote American economic growth and energy security.

According to BeAM, a number of universities and institutes have selected its DED machines for research and development work, such as the University of Sheffield, UK, the Nanyang University of Technology, Singapore, and France’s ESTIA Engineering School, Ecole Polytechnique and IRT Saint Exupéry.

The Modulo 400 is an industrial 5-axis DED dedicated machine which features a 600 x 400 x 400 mm build volume, a controlled atmosphere system and multiple deposition nozzles. BeAM is currently displaying sample/demonstration applications produced using the Modulo 400 as well as other BeAM machines at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS 2018) in Chicago, Illinois, USA.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
