The Prototype Lab at Groundswell Startups is now open for business after a year in the making and brings a new set of capabilities to the Space Coast. “The addition of state-of-the-art additive manufacturing equipment, combined with our proven strategies and expertise for bringing hardware products to market, makes this lab, and Groundswell Startups, uniquely situated to be a leading model for ecosystems around the country on how to enable, launch, and scale new technologies,” said Jarin Eisenberg, Groundswell Startups CEO, pictured above right.

The lab brings a whole new set of capabilities to the Space Coast, including state-of-the-art additive prototyping capabilities with in-house 3D printing.

“Thank you to everyone who came out and supported The Grand Opening of The Prototype Lab at Groundswell Startups! We could not be more proud to bring these capabilities to the Space Coast,” said Jarin Eisenberg, Groundswell Startups CEO.

Eisenberg said in the short time that the Lab has been opened, they have already seen the impact – the ability to quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively prototype parts is a catalyst for new companies and jobs, and making sure that talent does not have to leave the Space Coast to bring their ideas to life.

“We are speeding up the development timeline for companies to bring products to market and provide tools for manufacturers that want to explore additive manufacturing as an alternative to traditional means,” said Eisenberg.

“This creates additional opportunities for product design firms, online marketers, software engineers, the business ecosystem and many more. We are a hub for economic development.”

The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast has been a strategic partner and sponsor of Groundswell Startups, a 501c3 started in 2015 to strengthen the Space Coast’s innovation and entrepreneur ecosystem. Over the years, the EDC has identified multiple opportunities to partner with Groundswell through events, workshops, and supporting new business ventures. SPACE COAST EDC IS STRATEGIC PARTNER

The EDC’s Chair-Elect, Travis Proctor, was on hand to celebrate the grand opening of the expansion of The Prototype Lab.

“Products created in this lab will turn into companies that will feed into the larger economy here on the Space Coast – they will create jobs, help us retain talent, and push new lines of business to area manufacturers,” said Proctor. “What you see here on Irwin Street is organic, grassroots economic development.”
