Falcon Technologies International LLC (FTI), a leading Additive Manufacturing service bureau based in Ras Al-Khaimah (RAK), UAE hosted a EOS technology open day on 7th December supported by RAKEZ at their facility.

The aim of the event by FTI was to introduce Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing and its various applications amongst the RAK industry ecosystem. 30 delegates from different companies based in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah attended this event. The event saw presence from FTI Group CEO, Mr Sanjay Gupta and Guest Speakers – Markus Glasser, EOS Gmbh and Syed Nameer, EOS Gmbh from Germany. The event included a short seminar to detail the

Setting the Foundation for Growth in Additive Manufacturing

Sanjay Gupta, CEO, FTI

FTI’s Group CEO Sanjay Gupta opened this event with an introduction of FTI and explained how they have grown over the past 18 years. He mentioned in the welcome address “From being the leading optical media manufacturer, FTI has expanded itself into two more successful divisions namely Additive Manufacturing (FTI 3D) and FTI Healthcare. FTI is the only company to adapt fully green packaging and filed a patent for the same, we discontinued all plastic use & instead we use sustainable packing products. We have also cut down our power consumption by 50%. Both these measures were taken to contribute to the healthy environment.” He also mentioned that Additive manufacturing has remarkably established itself in the medical sector with producing 2500 pairs of customised insoles and produced several other rehabilitation devices serving over 2500 patients across GCC. He also stated that apart from medical, FTI with its design and reverse engineering capabilities have provided solution to over 200 companies across GCC and we will continue to serve many more in the years to come.

This was followed by a primer on how 3D Printing works by Manoj S. Pillai, Dept Head Additive Manufacturing. He mentioned that it’s the process of creating three-dimensional objects by adding material layer by layer, in contrast to traditional subtractive manufacturing methods. He added that this breakthrough technology has the potential to transform the way we design, produce and distribute a vast array of products, from aerospace components and medical devices to architectural models and customized consumer goods.

Guest Speakers from EOS Gmbh – Markus Glasser and Syed Nameer spoke about different technologies in Additive Manufacturing and their applications in rapid prototyping, tooling and on-demand manufacturing by referencing case studies. Markus Glasser,  Senior VP – EMEA, EOS Gmbh stated that   “3D printing is revolutionising production processes and empowering designers and engineers to bring their ground-breaking concepts to life with unparalleled speed and precision.”

World Class Additive Manufacturing Facility at FTI

In the second half of the day, all guests were invited for a factory tour and a visit to the production area for a live display of the 3D Printing process followed at FTI  start to end. FTI has a class 7 Clean room to provide a safe environment for production and certified by ISO and Ministry of Health.

This was followed by networking with the guests at lunch. Overall the event was interactive throughout and provided FTI and EOS an opportunity to connect with several companies, where they exchanged ideas on how to work together on future projects.
