BigRep presents fully automated and 5G connected PRO 3D printer at AMUG 2019

BigRep, a German FDM/FFF 3D printer manufacturer, is presenting its first “fully automated and 5G connected” BigRep PRO machine at AMUG 2019 and Hannover Messe this week.

IoT equipped, the large-scale PRO FDM/FFF printer is a combined effort between BigRep and Bosch Rexroth, a subsidiary of global engineering and electronics company Bosch.

Stephan Beyer, CEO of BigRep, comments, “Our new printers are the launching pad for the factory of the future. We are opening a new dimension for additive manufacturing by establishing industrial 3D printing in automated and IoT-integrated systems. BigRep’s quality solutions meet the industry’s requirements for precise, controlled and efficient machines with full data integration,”

“WE WILL ESTABLISH 3D PRINTING AS AN ADDED VALUE PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY IN INDUSTRIES SUCH AS AUTOMOTIVE, AEROSPACE, CONSUMER GOODS, MANUFACTURING AND MORE.”

The BigRep PRO, alongside the EDGE, made its debut in November 2018. Now present at AMUG, Frank Marangell, CBO at BigRep, comments, “We are proud and excited to have our partner, Bosch Rexroth, and customers, Boyce Technologies and Ford, join us at AMUG to share their expert insights on the value and future of additive manufacturing.”

“OUR LATEST TECHNOLOGY OFFERS CUSTOMERS COMPLETE SOLUTIONS FOR INTEGRATED ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS, ENABLING COMPANIES TO REIMAGINE HOW THEY PRODUCE PARTS FROM DESIGN TO PRODUCTION.”

3D printing for Industry 4.0

The PRO 3D printer is equipped with 2 extruders powered by BigRep’s proprietary Metering Extrusion Technology (MXT) and motion control system by Bosch Rexroth.  “Our new groundbreaking MXT system is something the industry has been waiting for, as it makes the PRO five times faster with greater precision and quality than current extrusion speeds,” commented Beyer.

This is combined with a 5G connection and an Internet of Things (IoT) system, made by Bosch Connected Industry and Bosch Rexroth, to communicate with cloud devices for streamlined production.

Thomas Fechner, Head of the Business Unit New Business at Bosch Rexroth, “Over the medium term, additive manufacturing cannot ignore the need to adapt to the established production processes.”

“THE GOAL IS A COMPLETELY DIGITAL WORKFLOW. THE DATA MUST BE ABLE TO PASS CONSISTENTLY – FROM THE CUSTOMER ORDER, THE CAD SOFTWARE AND SIMULATION ENVIRONMENTS TO SPECIFIC MACHINE MOVEMENTS AND QUALITY ASSURANCE.”

Furthermore, a 3D scanner is integrated into the BigRep PRO for quality assurance purposes.

At Hannover Messe (hall 17, booth A40), Bosch Rexroth is also showcasing NEXT AGV, a prototype of an automated guided vehicle made by Rexroth and NOWLAB, BigRep’s innovation cell.

Visitors to AMUG 2019 can see live demonstrations of the BigRep PRO in Salon C, Room 3. At Hannover Messe, the company is exhibiting at various partner booths. In addition to Bosch Rexroth, the company seen be seen alongside Berlin Partner, booth E39 – hall 6, and igus GmbH, booth A18 – hall 16.
