B9Creations, a professional provider of 3D printing solutions, launched its engineering resin line with Rugged – Nylon 6. Equivalent to injection-molded nylon, Rugged – Nylon 6 features low modulus, high elongation, and high impact strength making it ideal for snap-fit and wear-resistant parts.

The new material, Rugged – Nylon 6, is compatible with the B9 Core Series 3D printer and has comparable properties to injection-molded nylon, making it suitable for a range of functional applications, including for snap-fit and wear-resistant parts. According to B9Creations, it features low modulus, high elongation, high impact strength, low moisture absorption and excellent surface resolution.Snap fit band 3D printed out of Rugged – Nylon 6

The material—the first in the company’s engineering resin line—has already been put to use at Ding Tool LLC, a manufacturer of paintless dent repair tools for the automotive industry. There, Rugged – Nylon 6 has been utilized to speed up the design and production of dent repair tools.

As Duane L., owner of Ding Tool, elaborated: “Ding Tool LLC creates propriety tools for the paintless dent repair industry, and the tool creation process often needs rapid prototyping. I require tools that will not damage the exterior of the paint on automotive cars but are capable of withstanding hammer blows.

“Rugged – Nylon 6 is perfect for my needs. I’m able to create a new version within a few hours with this resin and put it to use the same day. I currently have one patent pending and without B9Creations (its customer support included) along with its resin, my tool would simply be nowhere near production ready as it is now.”

More broadly, the 3D printing resin can be used for prototyping and low- to mid-volume production runs, replacing injection molded components.

The resin release follows the launch of B9Creations’  B9Clean, an automated post-processing machine for resin 3D printed parts. The B9Clean device fits seamlessly into B9Creations’ 3D printing workflow, offering users a compact solution for finishing and cleaning parts. The company also offers a range of resin 3D printers, materials, a 3D scanner and accessories.
