His previous roles include Chief Economic Program Officer at Tawazun, Director in the Investment Unit, and positions at ZonesCorp Abu Dhabi and ADNOC. Al Awani holds a Master’s in Quality Management and a BA in Electrical Engineering.

Can you elaborate on Sindan’s role as a driving force for Additive Manufacturing in the Middle East?

At Sindan, we lead the Middle East’s Additive Manufacturing industry by continuously adopting the latest technologies, like state-of-the-art 3D printing machines. Our strategic focus spans key sectors like defense, aerospace, oil and gas, and healthcare. We drive advancements through innovation and addressing specific industry needs, such as creating lighter aerospace parts and customized medical solutions. Collaboration is also key; we partner with government bodies, universities, and industry leaders to foster a culture of innovation. Our investment in R&D and talent development ensures we stay at the forefront, contributing to the region’s technological and economic growth.

Sindan’s vision is to bring innovation in additive manufacturing across various sectors such as defense, aerospace, and medical. How do you see these industries evolving with the adoption of 3D printing technologies in the MENA region?

3D printing will transform key industries in the MENA region, particularly defense, aerospace, and healthcare. In defense, it will make manufacturing more agile and responsive, enhancing national security through localized production. In aerospace, 3D printing will allow the creation of complex, lightweight parts, improving aircraft performance. The medical industry will see advancements in customized implants and bioprinting, leading to better patient care and groundbreaking research.

One of Sindan’s key missions is to inspire young minds with the latest technological advancements. Can you share some of your key ideas to achieve this?

We inspire young minds by partnering with schools and universities to develop curricula and workshops focused on additive manufacturing. We involve students in R&D projects, create makerspaces, and organize hackathons and design competitions. We also offer mentorship programs and engage in STEM outreach to introduce students to the possibilities of AM.

How does Sindan aim to contribute to the advancement of the UAE’s technological ecosystem?

Sindan contributes by investing in cutting-edge research and collaborating with universities to pioneer new materials and processes. Our partnerships with government entities and private companies create a robust ecosystem that supports advanced manufacturing technologies. We are also committed to skill development through workshops, internships, and educational partnerships, cultivating a new generation of skilled professionals.

What are the main challenges you foresee in the widespread adoption of additive manufacturing in the Middle East, and how does Sindan plan to address these challenges?

Challenges include a limited skilled workforce and low awareness of AM’s potential. We address these by offering training programs and integrating AM into educational curricula. We conduct seminars and conferences to showcase successful AM projects, raising awareness and driving adoption. We also help businesses integrate AM into supply chains and work with regulatory bodies to establish standardized protocols, ensuring a smoother transition.

What are your thoughts on forums like AM Conclave and how can they empower the local ecosystem in the Middle East?

Forums like the AM Conclave are crucial for advancing the additive manufacturing ecosystem. They foster collaboration, showcase innovations, and provide educational opportunities. These events help shape regulatory frameworks, attract investment, and encourage entrepreneurship, significantly contributing to the region’s economic growth.

Looking ahead, what are your strategic goals for Sindan in the next five years, and how do you plan to further integrate additive manufacturing technologies into the region’s industrial landscape?

Our goals include expanding technological capabilities, deepening industry collaboration, and enhancing workforce development. We plan to upgrade our infrastructure and strengthen partnerships across sectors like defense, aerospace, and healthcare. We are committed to sustainability, reducing material waste, and promoting eco-friendly production processes. Supporting startups and fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem, expanding our market presence, and advocating for supportive policies are also priorities.
